Dentists at Keene Dentistry & Implants, we ensure our patients receive the optimum results in dental placements and restorations.
What is Cerec 3D?
Ceramic Reconstruction stands for CEREC and comprises of a system developed by Sirona that designs high quality, metal-free dental restorations in a single patient visit. It utilizes CEREC 3D imaging techniques and CAD/CAM technology to assist our dentists at Keene Dentistry & Implants in designing a digital dental restoration such as, an inlay or onlays, or a crown or bridge, without having the dentist take precise impressions of the mouth and teeth for construction. This machine allows us to take digital impressions for restorations without having the patients undergo any discomfort such as gagging and make precise restorations that look excellent, fit perfectly, and last a long time.
How does Cerec work?
At Keene Dentistry & Implants, our team of dentists comprises of a high level of expertise in utilizing advanced technology and prioritizes in utilizing equipment that does not put the well-being of our patients in any harm. In order to create virtual impression of the patients mouth, the cavity preparation is first photographed and stored as a three dimensional digital model and proprietary software is then used to approximate the restoration shape using biogeneric comparisons of the surrounding teeth. Subsequently, the model is then refined using 3D CAD software. When the model is complete a milling machine carves the actual restoration out of a ceramic block using Diamond Head cutters under computer control. When complete, the restoration is bonded to the tooth using a resin.
