What are Invisalign?
Young or old, everybody desires a beautiful, sparkling smile and Invisalign is a clear alternative to braces utilized to straighten crooked or crowded teeth. Invisalign is offered by our dentists at Keene Dentistry & Implants for all patients in need. To achieve a straight and perfectly aligned set of teeth, many of our patients opt for clear orthodontic devices called aligners. Unlike braces, where brackets of connecting wires are placed on the teeth, aligners are custom-made clear plastic retainers that slip over the teeth making Invisalign a less-noticeable alternative to metal braces.
What is the treatment process for Invisalign?
At Keene Dentistry & Implants we offer dental consultation to all patients by discussing and evaluating their needs to determine whether Invisalign is the right choice for them. Following the first consultation, dental x-rays, physical teeth impressions and 3D digital images of the teeth are taken to ensure a precise fit for aligners. We identify the movement of the teeth to correct the bite so to offer a snug fit for your teeth. Invisalign are custom-made from a clear plastic or acrylic material and may be removed when eating, brushing and flossing the teeth.
How do Invisalign work?
Invisalign are clear aligners which offer potential benefits for the teeth by slightly shifting the teeth, both horizontally and vertically, while also rotating the misaligned teeth if necessary. The aligners are specially designed to apply the right amount of force for the teeth. At Keene Dentistry & Implants we offer our patients new aligners every few weeks to ensure continued progression of the teeth to the correct position. Patients are recommended to wear the aligners for up to 20-22 hours a day.
Straightening teeth by utilizing Invisalign depends on the dental condition of the patient. Although treatment of using Invisalign usually lasts between 10 months to 24 months, treatment time varies for each patient for a number of reasons, such as, how much the teeth need to be shifted, how altered the bite is, how crooked and crowded the teeth are.
